The post was without a doubt an excellent read & I respect quality blog posts on the net being that alot of it's dupicate. I recognize that when your talking about content it's pretty much King in terms of getting a webpage ranked and so on (most likely why I found this). I've made a couple sites back when and am focusing on an internet mini sales marketplace type deal for users to visit and buy and sell services to eachother. So I need to work on getting some article content and other stuff on the site and so forth. Anyway take care and continue getting out good posts.

pattern:
(+) S + Verb2 + complement
(-) S + did not + Verb1 + complement
(?) Did + S + verb1 + complement ?
kalimat "I didn't live in Italy" adalah kalimat verbal, artinya predikatnya menggunakan kata kerja, yaitu "lived (verb 2)", maka dalam past tense ketika dalam kalimat negative predikat itu harus diubah lagi ke bentuk "verb 1, asal lived menjadi live"
sedangkan "didn't=did not" merupakan auxilary verb/to be (kata kerja bantu) yang menunjukan bahwa kejadian itu lampau. begitupun halnya pada kalimat interrogative (kalimat tanya) tidak menggunakan verb2 melainkan verb1.
sedangkan pada kalimat "I wasn't busy yesterday", predikatnya menggunakan kata sifat (busy=sibuk), sehingga kalau kalimat past tense bentuk nominal (predikatnya bukan kata kerja) maka membutuhkan to be sebagai konjungsi antara Subyek dan predikat. dalam past tense, to be yang digunakan hanya 2 (was/were), was digunakan untuk Subyek I/she/he/it, sedangkan were untuk subyek They/we/you.
contoh kalimat nominal :
(+) I was sad last night
(-) I was not sad last night
(?) was I sad last night ?

(+) they were happy yesterday
(-) they were not happy yesterday
(?) were they happy yesterday?

contoh kalimat verbal :
(+) I studied English two years ago
(-) I did not study English two years ago
(?) Did I study English two years ago ?

(+) I bought a new car last month (buy - bought = membeli)
(-) I did not buy a new car last month
(?) did I buy a new car last month ?

that's my explanation. semoga bermanfaat dan mohon koreksinya bila ada kesalahan.

@hery maybe i can explain some, but since i'm not the expertise, so the blogger has to explain.

to be (was n were) digunakan untuk menjelaskan yg bukan kata kerja. dalam contoh: " I wasn't busy" ---> busy disini merupakan kata sifat bukan kata kerja. "I wasn't a very good kid" ---> a very good kid juga kata sifat bukan kata kerja.

did/ did not: digunakan dlm simple past tense sebagai penunjuk kata kerja yg lampau. contoh: I didn't live in Italy ---> live merupakan kata kerja jd kl ga pake didn't harusnya brubah jd lived.
"I went to school yesterday" ---> went merupakan kata kerja bentuk lampau dr "go" jd harus ditambahkan did / diganti dlm bentuk v2 "i did go to school" or "i went to school" kl dipake "i was go to school" makna nya jd aku dulu sebagai go to school --> ga nyambung, karena go merupakan kata kerja.

hope my explanation is correct and accurate enough. Thank you
